Some highlights from this years race include overall male winner Josh Snyder and overall female winner Katie Helms. Both had great runs on a warm day.
My son Jim Brennan broke Stihl Snyder's record for youngest ever to have made it up the hill. Jim is 7 years old and 7 months breaking good friend Stihl's record from last year by only a few months. But Jim will probably not have that record for long as many expect Stihl's younger brother Trek will be mosying up the hill within a few years.

Oakland DeMoss beat his own record again as the oldest to have ever made it to the top of the hill. Oakland is 84 years young. He inspires and amazes us every year!
We also had 103 finishers this year which is also a record.
We also had Mr. and Mrs. Tostado who came all the way from New Hampshire just for our race! They are running a race in all 50 states and they picked ours for Oklahoma. I don't think they could have picked a better one.
This was the 10th year to have put the race on. As I was getting everything ready the night before, I did think about whether I wanted to continue the race. In fact, I was sure that I was done with it. There are just so many races these days and at the time I felt tired of doing the race directing duties. Then on race morning, I felt the excitement and energy of so many runners and walkers and especially the first timers. Everyone seems to really just love a race like this one that is so unique and different and that just can't be matched anywhere else because Cavanal Hill is so unique and different. So we will definitely continue to do this race for as long as I live in Poteau.
Thanks to everyone for coming. - Tom
